Your privacy is very important to us. So much so, that some website design decisions favored your privacy at the expense of what seems like a well integrated website. - Email addresses - We will never provide your email address to anyone; ever. We do not send emails to our users; with the single exception of confirming your subscription, and one email just prior to subscription expiration. (You need to use our social networks to get updates from us.)
- Passwords and login - People reuse passwords; we know this. That is why you do not login to our site directly, but instead login to a Google Account. Our site, hosted by Google, just has a list of email addresses who should be granted access to our subscription site. Google handles the login, and only lets you access the subscription site if your are in our list of subscribers. We do not have your password, nor do we have any access to your Google or Google+ account information.
- Javascript, apps, etc. - Our site is a Google Site. Google Sites are not allowed to run javascript; though the website can use Google App script. (Javascript is the code that runs in a browser, and can be the source of internet virus and other problematic software.) This makes our job a little harder, as we have to use Google's proprietary scripting and its reduced feature set, but you should have more confidence that the does not host malicious code.
- Payment - You have to leave our website to process subscription payments. We allow you to use large, trusted payment processing providers so that you do not have to give us any payment details like your credit card information.
All of the above protect your privacy, but limit what services we can provide. We may in the future decide to change some of these decisions, but at this point we think we are making the right decision for you and us.
We will never need anything more than the email address of your Google Account. We will not ask for, and ask that you never send us, any personal information other than your Google Account email address. |
